2017 Goolwa

It was great to see the numbers who turned up to this year’s conference at Goolwa, South Australia – even though some had to resort to alternate transport due to weather issues. Regardless of the way people arrived, our meeting seemed a great success.

After challenging weather conditions en route to Goolwa, we were blessed with great weather over the weekend, along with great convention facilities at McCracken Country Club. From reports so far, the program was well-received by conference participants.

After a welcome BBQ on Friday night (to meet-and-greet fellow LOBO OZ members), participants were exposed to a range of different topics from Saturday morning through to Sunday at noon, with only slight variation from the original program.

The presentations were educational and fun; thanks Kevin, Patrick and Andrew.

If the volume of conversations was any indication, then there was a lot of information imparted, mulled over and hopefully taken on board. Sharing experience and practical knowledge is certainly a key element of any LOBO OZ meeting –  even including ways to open your canopy…

Accompanying partners found several social options to pass the time away from the conference – markets, paddle steamer rides, art exhibitions, winery tours and golf, to name a few. Some even attended some of the talks; both for their own interest (e.g. the talk on hypoxia and DCI) and to support their pilots. Many simply enjoyed a bit of time out.

Organisers would like to thank all those who attended to make this such a positive experience for us; we hope it was for you also!

Attendees, keep an eye on emails for a link to an evaluation survey (please give us as much feedback as you can), and look for future links to a forum (details emailed soon) where we can share and discuss many ideas and issues further – all ahead of our next conference in the Devonport area in 2018!

If you missed this year, just stay tuned for new information in the coming year.
